Introduction to Me: Video Challenge Day 1

Introduction to Me: Video Challenge Day 1

I have gone and done it. I’ve started the challenge to do videos to share my experiences and tips. This month I’ll be updating my blog three times a week with videos, and will include the (sort of) transcripts below for those who prefer to avoid them (and if the sound quality isn’t great).

I say sort of because they’re what I use to start speaking and get me back on track. When I talk, I usually go off on a tangent!

I do apologize for the sound. I’m on my husband’s computer and it’s useless. And that is with a headset! I’ll try my laptop and see if that offers better quality for the sound. I think it might do. If not, then I’ll see about using my phone! That definitely has better quality!

So, my first video is more of an introduction into me. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you might not need to know more about me, but you get to see my face and hear my voice!

Video 1: Introduction to Me

Hi. I’m Alexandria and this month I made the commitment to start doing videos. I don’t really like putting myself on the camera, but this is another great way of sharing my experiences and tips for freelance writers.

Apart from my Ice Bucket Challenge video, this is the first and I thought an introduction would be better.

I’m a freelance writer and soon to be Weight Watchers leader. I’ve been writing online for the past four years or so, and have built up a number of residual income streams and blogs. Now it’s time for me to move into a different medium to share with you all.

Over the next month, I’m going to focus on videos three times a week. My daughter is at nursery three times a week, so it’s the only time the house is quiet enough for recording.

I look forward to sharing with everyone, and tomorrow I’ll share my plan for the month. Until then, please feel free to check out my blog at Alexandria-ingham.com, where I share my tips and advice for becoming a freelance writer. I also have other blogs, including Student Survival Tips and Hire a Freelance Blogger.

I hope you enjoyed my first video, even if it was just to see me. I look forward to sharing more over the next month.

    1. Thanks, Michelle. It does take courage, and sometimes a deadline to finally say you’re going to do it!

  1. What a brave young lady you are! I’ve thought about doing this very thing, but I’m a little chicken . . . you’ve inspired me. Very well done!

    1. Thanks, Amy. Glad I could inspire you. Sometimes you have to “just do it” in the words of Nike.

    1. Thanks, Misty. It will be nice to get to know you too. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  2. Hi Alexandria! It’s so good to see you. I love it when people you follow online get in front of the camera. Seems like it brings you a bit closer together in interacting with that person other than just commenting on their blog posts.

Looking forward to seeing more of you.

    1. Thanks, Cynthia. It’s nice to be seen. I agree, there’s an element of being closer to someone.

  3. Yay! So nice to put a face to the writing! You are beautiful!

I look forward to seeing more of your videos! (Hint: Next time turn the light on so you aren’t hiding in the dark!)

It will get easier – doing video. I promise! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Bonnie. Ah the wonderful lights! I did have to close the blind to stop the glare of the sun. Would you believe it today it’s pitch black even with the blind open because of no sun? Need the light on all day!

    1. Thanks, Victoria. It is nice putting faces and voices to names and blog posts 🙂 I look forward to seeing more of your videos too.

  4. I love to see people introducing themselves with video, well done, it makes us all more real!!!! I have done a 30 day video challenge which was so hard on day one but it did get easier. Where are the links you were going to put in the comments section Alexandria? Did I miss them?

    1. Thanks, Lisa. I’m sure it will get easier as the videos go on. Now that I’ve found my laptop is better for sound quality that will help. I ended up adding the links into the blog post. They’re within the transcript for Student Survival Tips and Hire a Freelance Blogger 🙂
