A lot of people will say that working out in the morning is the best. You could gain benefits when you work out in the evening instead.

Just because working out on a morning works best for some doesn’t mean that it will work best for all. Personally, I prefer a morning workout, but I know so many people who prefer to do it on an evening. In fact, I used to prefer the evening workouts.

We can all change. It depends on hormones, the way we sleep, and just what we find best for us. Do you think you’re an evening workout person? Here are five reasons to consider it.

You could go further and harder

Planet Fitness shares that studios show that it is possible to gain more energy by the end of the day. This can help make cardio workouts more effective. When you work out in the evening, you can push yourself further and harder without realizing it.

You want to find the best time for your energy levels. If you do find that you have more energy at the start of the day, work with that. However, if you find you’re energized and ready to go at the end of the day, why not take advantage of that?

A work out in the evening could be more sociable

Think about all the other people going to the gym after work. You can end up making more friends when you do this, and having workout buddies is a great way to stick to a schedule*. It’s one of the reasons I love classes, because there are people I see regularly at them.

You don’t need to socialize with people outside of the gym. You can just stick to having workout friends, who will help you improve your form and push you when you feel like you’re flagging a little. And you can do the same.

You can work off that stress

Do you have a stressful job? The last thing you really want to do is to head back home straight after. You want to get rid of the stress so that home can end up being a fun place to be. So, instead of going straight home, why not head to the gym?

You can get your stress out in all sorts of ways. It doesn’t matter if it’s 30 minutes on the treadmill or if you end up doing laps in the pool. Maybe you find strength training good for releasing the stress. Whatever you do, you’re getting rid of the buildup of stress, and that’s helping you enjoy home much more. When you work out in the evening, you could sleep better

You need to make sure you get into a routine with your exercise*. Now that I work from home, I find getting out of the house first thing on a morning is best. By the time I finish work, I just want to stay home and not do anything.

That was the opposite when I worked out of the house. I’d already be up early for work, and I didn’t want to get up any earlier. However, I was already out of the house, so it was much easier to get into the gym straight afterward. I got into a great routine as long as I didn’t go straight home. Once I’m in the house at the end of the day, that’s it!
