Inflation and interest rates are going up, and you need extra income in your budget. Here are five side jobs you can do to help.

With interest rates and inflation going up, you need more money in your budget. You’ve asked for a raise at work, and you’ve been told no. That’s the standard for a lot of people. The problem is you can’t cut back on your purchases anymore. You need the money going into your account.

Something to consider is getting another job, but you don’t want to work out of the house any longer than you already do. So you need to find something you can do from home. There’s some good news. There are a few side jobs you can do to make extra income.

Some of these jobs could end up replacing your full-time job. You could find you have more financial freedom as you build up a client base. Here are five side jobs you’ll want to consider.

Become a dog sitter or walker

If you like animals, one of the side jobs for extra income to consider is dog sitting or walking. There are a lot of people who got pandemic puppies, and now they’re going back into the office and have no idea what to do with their four-legged companions. Daycares are full, or they may just not hae the money to afford the full fees.

They’re looking for people to check in on their pups a few times a day and walk them for a bit. This is where you come in. You could offer to do this during the day if you’re not working. You can even set your schedule so it works for your needs.

If you want a little extra income, consider dog sitting overnight. This saves money on boarding, and there’s a friendlier experience than boarding the pups in kennels.

Rover.com is popular for those looking to get into this side hustle.

Freelance in something you enjoy to earn extra income

When I found myself unemployed, I looked at things I could do from home while I found another job. In the end, I started writing and that became my full-time job. It has replaced the income I would have earned working out of the house.

You can do all sorts in the freelancing world. If you’re not a writer, that’s okay. Maybe you’re an editor instead. Or you may be a photographer, or want to be a virtual assistant. There’s also software development, software testing, and so much more.

I did start out on Freelancer.com, although I don’t recommend it. ProBlogger is great to find writing work. UpWork is also popular, and I have had friends recommend People Per Hour.

Become a Party Planner

Now that more people are getting out, they’re looking to throw parties. Whether it’s weddings, birthdays, or even funerals (wakes!), there is a lot to organize and think about. People don’t want to do that when there are others who are much better than them at it.

As a party planner, you’ll be responsible for working with the vendors, setting up the events, and dealing with the RSVPs. This can add some stress, especially when you have your clients worrying about the event and what’s going on the day of it.

Start small with kids’ birthday parties. You can then work up to other events, and eventually work your way into weddings. Anything weddings is where the money is!

Start tutoring to earn extra money

What about tutoring? This is something you may not have considered before thinking you don’t have any qualifications. The truth is you don’t necessarily need a degree in teaching or in anything. It all depends on where you go online to earn the extra income.

A bachelor’s degree will help, but there are a lot of college students who make extra money tutoring younger students. Find a subject that you’re good at and start offering help. You can start with friends and work your way up to strangers. This is one of those areas where word-of-mouth referrals are the way you’ll build your client base.

Tutor.com is a good place to start when it comes to getting into tutoring for extra money.

Move into insurance or investments

More and more people need help with their finances. They’re looking for insurance, or they need to get their money into investments. They’ll need financial advisors to help with this.

This is one of those side hustles that will cost you some money first. You’ll need to get licensed and find a company willing to take you on to sponsor you. As you grow, you’ll be able to do it on your own.

There are many directions you can go when it comes to becoming a financial advisor. I can help you with this side income immediately, so please get in touch for more information if you think it’s for you. You don’t need to be good at math to do this! There’s software to help you do it all.
