Ultimate Blog Challenge: Why I’m Not Doing It but Why You Should

I’m going to sound very hypocritical at the moment, but please hear me out.

I’ve decided not to do the Ultimate Blog Challenge this month. But I still think it could be a great opportunity for you. There’s a good reason why I’m not doing it and that is time.

The Ultimate Blog Challenge means I would need to post once a day for the whole month. Then there is the time to promote and read through others’ blog posts who are taking part in the challenge. It’s great for readership, but what happens when you only have a few extra hours spare each day, and you need to use them on studying and family time?

My writing would really suffer if I decided to do the challenge this month. I mean really suffer. The quality for my clients would go down considerably as I tried to fit everything in, my blogs wouldn’t see any timely updates and that would affect you, and my essay writing would falter so I’d fail my degree.

But You Should Do the Ultimate Blog Challenge

That being said, I still believe it’s great and useful, especially if you’re just starting a blog. Look at it this way:

You grow your readership considerably.

When you participate, part of the challenge is to read and comment on at least two other blogs. You will start to see the same people posting, and there are high chances that you comment on the same blogs now and then.

This creates a great relationship. You will find people who follow your every word, while you build up a network for guest posting at a later date. You could even have people guest post on your blog later to save you some time.

I Could Have Chosen the Guest Posting Route

This is definitely something I could have done, but I’m not at the stage where I want to give that up right now. It takes time and commitment when it comes to guest posting. You need to vet through the pitches and then make sure the spelling and grammar is up to scratch.

If I don’t have the time to write one extra post a day, I definitely don’t have the time to vet through that sort of thing.

My time needs to be spent on what really matters. Talking to mentors and clients, writing posts and creating products for them, and generally bringing in money for my family.

Will you take part in the Ultimate Blog Challenge? It’s part way through the month, but there is no time like today to start. Share what you think and whether you’re doing it and why!
