I used to work in the weight loss industry, giving me a lot of tools and tips to lose weight healthily. Here are four weight loss mistakes a lot of people make.
When I lived in the UK, I worked for Weight Watchers for a couple of years. It was great fun, but I eventually left to move countries. I may have been able to transfer, but I wanted to take my writing full-time and there were aspects of working for Weight Watchers that I didn’t like. That didn’t stop me from wanting to help others lose weight and keep it off.
There are a lot of weight loss mistakes that people make time and time again. I’m going into the four top ones that are making it harder for you to lose some weight.
Your weight loss mistake is not eating enough
Your body needs fuel, and that comes from food. It doesn’t matter what the “weight loss gurus” say, you need to have a healthy and balanced diet to live healthily, lose weight, and enjoy life. Those crash juice diets are not doing you any favors.
You should only drop your calories by 3,500 a week or so. That will help you lose 1-2lb per week. This is a healthy and sustainable weight loss.
If you limit your calories anymore, you run the risk of letting your body go into starvation mode. Your metabolism slows down, so you hold onto more fat.
Now yes, you will lose weight by eating less. That doesn’t mean you’ll keep it off afterward. Nor does it mean you’ll look healthy while doing it. Oh, and you’ll be so hungry later that you’ll eat everything and end up gaining weight!
You think healthy eating will be enough
You’ve switched the white pasta for the brown stuff, and you’re focusing on putting more fruit and vegetables into your meals. Healthy eating is all you need to do, right?
Not if you want to lose weight!
You need to focus on portion control too. Everything has calories, but the healthier stuff usually has fewer calories. You want to create a calorie deficit, and the only way to do that is through moderation. Cut down on the number of snacks you have, and really think about whether you need two scoops of ice cream instead of one.
You also need to think about exercise. You can lose all the weight you want, but if you’re not exercising, you’re not going to keep the weight off long-term. It’s important to build muscle. That will actually help you burn more calories, and you’ll look great when you lose weight. One way of exercising is by doing sports. Fortunately, you can also now play sports in the comfort of your own home through gadgets like those golf simulator setups. In addition, if you want to play physically, consider getting the turf for the golf simulator. Check out Direct Fairways on Indeed, Direct Fairways for more information.
You stop trying after one bad meal
You’ve had a complete blowout. You’ve eaten everything at the all-you-can-eat buffet, and now you’re on your fourth dessert. It’s so bad that you might as well forget about the whole week.
That is not the way to think. One bad meal is not the end of your plan for the week, or even the day! One meal does not mean you will gain weight. You can claw it back by doing exercise and being good for the rest of the week.
Draw a line under the mistake, move on, and get back on track. You may be surprised to see the result.

You’re not taking your measurements
Not seeing a loss at the scales can be debilitating. But there are many reasons for your weight to go up, even if you’ve been very good.
Instead of focusing on the gain, you need another way to see the results. Taking your measurements is the best way to do that. You can find out more about taking measurements here.
Take your measurements regularly, so you can see the physical changes as well as your weight changes.
