There are a lot of TikToks teaching people how to lose weight quickly. This isn’t something you want to follow. It’s not good for you.
So many people are obsessed with losing weight and losing it quickly. I get it. I was there with you. In fact, I still go into those bad and dangerous habits of the past if I’m not diligent.
Fast weight loss isn’t good for you. This is something that you want to avoid as much as possible, as it isn’t sustainable.
You can’t keep it off when you lose weight quickly
When you lose weight quickly, you won’t be able to keep it all off once you go back to eating properly. To lose weight as fast as possible, you’ve likely heavily reduced your calorie intake. This encourages your body to use up the excess fat for more calories.
In some cases, you can cause your body to eat the excess muscle as well. This isn’t what you want. Your body is just going to get energy from where it can, and energy from muscle is easier than fat. So, unless you’re adding muscle, you’re not going to lose weight the way you want, anyway.
Once you have got to your goal weight, you’ll likely start eating as normal again. This leads to adding more calories to your diet, potentially more than your body needs. So, you end up gaining weight.
Even if you eat the amount your body needs daily, you can end up gaining weight. Your body’s metabolism can slow down, and now you’re eating more than it needs.
You can’t stay on the diet plan you had to lose weight. So, you will end up going back to a normal diet. The yo-yo dieting isn’t good for your body. Let’s face it; that’s what you’ll do. You’ll hate gaining weight, so you’ll lose weight quickly* again.

You don’t change your eating habits
When you opt for fast weight loss, you’re not going to teach yourself better habits. You end up just dieting to diet.
When you lose weight in a healthy way, you’ll change your eating habits. This is great for finding ways to make delicious treats that are also healthy. You’ll find new foods that are good for you and that you enjoy.
The odd sweet treat isn’t bad for you, but too many is unhealthy. If you lose weight quickly, you don’t find a way to manage the cravings. You’re cutting it all out for the quick results, and then you’ll go straight back to eating everything as normal. All you do is yo-yo diet.
Changing your eating habits will mean a slower weight loss, but it’s a sustainable one. Your body gets used to the changes, and you don’t feel like you’re depriving yourself. You’ll add in exercise to help, and you’ll find it’s easier to stick to a maintenance plan afterward, so you don’t gain the weight back.
Fast weight loss means no energy for exercise
When you follow a program to lose weight as quickly as possible, you’re not going to have enough energy for your daily activities. That’s especially the case as you get closer to your goal weight. There are only so many calories you have in your reserves.
That means you don’t add in the exercise*. When you don’t add in exercise, guess where the body will take calories from first? You’ll end up feeling weaker. Plus, building muscle helps you burn more calories, so you’re not helping your weight loss efforts.
You’ll also see that your body doesn’t look as healthy because of fast weight loss. Your skin doesn’t get the moisture it needs, and your hair looks limp and greasy. On the inside, your organs aren’t working as well, so you’ll end up sicker more often.
With a healthy weight loss, you’re not shocking your system as much. You’ll find that you’re healthier than before.
