We’re always looking for ways that we can get more time in our day. A work at home mom needs to use her hours as productively as possible. You want to be able to spend all the time in the world with your children while bringing in enough money to support your family. Getting that work-life balance is why you became a work at home mom, right?
Now you’re looking for work at home mom tips to improve your time management in blogging, just one of the ways you can make money online. You know that you want to blog, but you just don’t have the time to do it all.
Did you know that having a blogging niche could be just what you needed? Even if you want to be a freelance writer instead of a full-time blogger, having a writing niche is essential for time management.
Don’t believe me? I know some of you will be laughing at the idea. You don’t want to be pigeon-holed into a topic. I didn’t either, but here are five ways having a blogging niche has given me more time and why it’s one of my top work at home mom tips for time management.
You have one subject to create content around
When you start blogging or writing, you may want to cover various topics. I did when I started. There was just so much that I wanted to write about.
But this was actually taking up extra time. I needed to think of topics for every single one of my subjects. I needed new ideas on a weekly basis and a list of topics in the future should I get this spur of the moment need to write.
My schedule was all over the place and I didn’t know what I was writing from one day to the next.
With a niche, I could be more focused. I just had the one subject. All blog posts were created around the one topic. You’ll realize that as you start thinking about a topic, the ideas just roll. You get into the zone for that particular niche and you will find it easier to create a range of ideas in one sitting to work on later.

It’s easier to create a plan for the week or month
Knowing what you’re going to write from one day to the next is important. This is much easier when you have a blogging niche.
When you have a plan, you can get straight into writing. In fact, you can possibly write multiple pieces of content in one day. You can even have a day where you do all the research you need, ready for when it comes to writing.
This plan will help you use your time productively. You know what you’re doing and when. You have a time frame for when to finish it, so you have the time to spend with your children.
Not only is this one of my work at home mom tips for productivity but also for getting a good work-life balance.

You definitely know your stuff
Whether you’re blogging or a freelance writer, having a niche will serve you well when it comes to the research and writing. Not only do you create a plan, but you will also know your stuff.
It becomes easier to write from your own experience or your own knowledge. The other research is just there to top up your knowledge and make sure you create something perfect for your readers or your clients.
How does this help with time management? You don’t spend hours trying to find enough research to create that 2,000-word article for your client. You can simply get straight into it and use the extra hours you now have in other ways.
Sure, you can do this without a niche. It’s just easier when you have a blogging or writing niche.
Marketing becomes a lot less time consuming
Marketing is an essential part of being a work at home mom. It doesn’t matter what you do or what niche you’re in, you need to market your skills, your website, and your blog. You need to bring the eyes to your business.
When you have a niche, marketing becomes so much easier. There’s no need to do multiple searches for keyword phrases. You don’t need to create a million Facebook ads and hope that you reach your ideal target audience. You get to narrow down searches and use the time you have productively.
One of the best ways to ignite your creative inspiration is by watching your competitors’ ad campaigns. You can use the facebook library ads to check out the best ad strategies of your competitors.
It’s easier to join relevant Facebook groups. You’ll find it easier to get clients who are willing and able to pay your rates.
You get to spend the hours you save elsewhere in your business or with your family.
Moving into other forms of content creation is easier
While you may want to write at the moment, in a few years time you may want to create videos. You may find that infographic creation or eBook writing sound interesting. You can find infographic tips at sonary.com.
If you don’t have a niche, moving into another form of content creation takes time. You’ll need to test the types of niches that work best and then come up with content ideas – just like you did or your blog posts. Having a niche is one of the top WAHM tips for this reason.
When you have a blogging niche, you can easily move that into other forms of content creation. In fact, you can repurpose a lot of your old content to quickly create new types of content and gain more viewers. You can then link the two together to get even more eyes on your content.
I know a lot of people like writing across multiple niches. The truth is this is a time-consuming way of producing content. Start with one niche and then grow from there.

Alexandria, excellent post as always!
I find that niche is important, and when combined with understanding yourself, you can craft winning content all the time!
Thanks, Paul! Yes, the niche is important but we like to think at first that we don’t need it. Well, I did and now I want others to learn from my mistakes so they don’t have to. Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment.
This is great. I am finding this out and preparing to relaunch my blog soon, working behind the scenes. I am excited to put this into practice and have about 20 posts in draft mode to get a head start. Thanks for sharing this!
