There is no doubt that we enjoyed the three-hour One Chicago crossover event. Don’t worry if you haven’t had time to watch it yet, as we’re not going into spoilers. This is more of a PSA to make sure you don’t miss new episodes of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire moving forward.

To kickoff the One Chicago crossover event, NBC switched a couple of the shows around. It’s become standard to start the crossovers with Chicago Fire, the veteran show that allows the emergency to get started. Firehouse 51 is called in, and that leads to many others getting involved.

Then the event will move to Chicago Med to deal with the medical emergency, with Chicago PD always ending the crossovers to finish up the criminal storyline. This event was no different, but that doesn’t mean Fire will always air first during One Chicago Wednesdays!

Chicago Med and Chicago Fire Return to Their Usual Timeslots

On Wednesday, March 11, the shows will go back to their regular timeslots. That means Chicago Med will kick things off at 8/7c, and then Chicago Fire* will follow during the second hour of the night. As usual, Chicago PD will end the night, bringing a new case for Intelligence to figure out.

The shows will also return to their standalone storylines. Sure, there may be a couple of crossover elements, as has happened recently with Dr. Frost and Lizzy Novak hooking up — leading to the two of them being in each other’s shows — but we’re not expecting anything major like the crossover event.

Crossovers take a long time to coordinate. It leads to changes for the budgets, as actors are in more shows than they normally are, and they need to be paid for that. It’s worth it for one episode, but we don’t need these events more than once a year.

What to Expect When Chicago Fire and Chicago Med Return?

Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 14 will put some focus on Severide again. When there’s a reckless driver who puts one of Firehouse 51’s own in harm’s way, Severide is on the case. He will not let this go.

However, this could be serious, as a member of Firehouse 51 will struggle with a potentially life-changing decision. Could this be linked to the accident, or is this linked to Pascal’s current storylines? We know that Dom Pascal will be absent for a few episodes, and the top brass is likely trying to force him out.

As for Chicago Med*, Archer and Lenox will have their work cut out for them thanks to the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Two friends come in injured, and the doctors will need to work to save their lives.

Meanwhile, Hannah and Ripley will need to treat a woman who is in the middle of a messy divorce. It’s not exactly clear if the divorce is the reason she’s in, or if the divorce gets in the way of her treatment plan. However, it’s sure to bring up some topics for Hannah and Ripley to discuss between them, hitting a few personal nerves.

Chicago Med and Chicago Fire return on Wednesday, March 11, starting at 8/7c on NBC. Stream the two series and Chicago PD* on Peacock.
