When we got the sad news that Brilliant Minds will end with Season 2, there were no doubt some concerns that we wouldn’t get to see the final episodes. After all, networks have pushed poor performing shows to streamers in the past. In fact, some have just pulled the shows off the air, never to bring closure to fans at all!
The good news is Brilliant Minds isn’t getting either of those treatments. There is still a plan to bring the final six episodes to our screens, allowing us to see the ending that all had in mind. It’s important to take note, as the show is moving to a new timeslot!
Brilliant Minds Season 2 Return Date
The final six episodes of the series will begin on Wednesday, May 27. Episodes will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT, which means that NBC is at least giving it a shot at going out with a bang. The medical drama is taking the timeslot of another medical show, Chicago Med.
The One Chicago shows will wrap up their seasons on Wednesday, May 13. It’s not clear why we have to wait an extra week for the Zachary Quinto series to return, but that’s the decision.
Episodes will run weekly as usual, with the Season 2 finale, which will now act as the series finale, airing on Wednesday, July 1.
What to Expect When Brilliant Minds Returns
There isn’t much to work with about Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 15 just yet. What we do know is that it is titled “The Missing Man,” and there are hints that we’ll dive more into why Oliver is now stuck in Hudson Oaks.
The first part of the season has pushed this mystery of Oliver being a patient in Hudson Oaks. At the end of Episode 14, we learned that the woman he was speaking with inside his dad’s apartment was actually a figment of his imagination. This is likely the turning point for Carol, realizing that her friend needs professional help.
Carol has made it clear that she believes some people do need in-patient care, and she is working with Hudson Oaks now and then. That doesn’t mean she believes everyone needs it, but it’s possible that she recommends Oliver go there to seek help for his mental break.
What does it mean at the hospital? Well, this is a chance for Charlie to take over the unit. That’s not going to go down well with some of the other characters, especially Ericka, as things are sure to change — and not necessarily for the better.
Brilliant Minds returns on Wednesday, May 27 at 8/7c on NBC.
