Nobody is safe when it comes to the aftermath of the Chicago Fire Season 14 Finale. That’s what Miranda Rae Mayo has warned everyone.

However, there are a few people who could be safer than others, and that’s all thanks to how TV contracts work. Just ahead of the finale, Mayo’s contract was renewed, along with that of Taylor Kinney, which means we should see Severide get out of the fire alive.

Severide needs to make it out, as he has a big career decision to make. There’s an opportunity for a safer job at OFI, but can he leave Squad 3 behind? The aftermath of the Chicago Fire* Season 14 Finale could change that.

Miranda Rae Mayo Is Worried About 3 Chicago Fire Characters

It turns out that there are three characters Mayo is most concerned about: Herrmann, Ballard, and Vasquez.

Ballard is played by Leroy Williams III, and he is a floater with Firehouse 51. However, he’s been with the family regularly over the course of the season, giving us a chance to get to know him in a small way. As he’s a floater — and as the actor is a recurring guest star — it does make him more likely to be the one killed off.

For the longest time, fans were worried about David Eigenberg not returning for Chicago Fire Season 15. He hadn’t renewed his contract, but things have changed now. That means he should be back.

So, what about Vasquez? Well, as the newest member of the cast, Brandon Larracuente doesn’t yet have a confirmed contract for the season. There is a lot open for this character, but we know that this has happened before, and NBC has pushed for those characters to be let go due to budgeting issues. That could definitely put Vasquez on the line.

The Focus Seemed to Be on Cruz, Herrmann, and Mouch

When watching the Chicago Fire Season 14 Finale, there were flashes to the people at home waiting for their firefighters to return. The main focus was on the wives of Cruz, Herrmann, and Mouch.

This could suggest that the three of them are the ones in danger. We’ve just ruled out Herrmann, so that leaves Cruz and Mouch, who have both had major storylines throughout the 14th season.

Cruz’s wife, Chloe, is now expecting twins, and he’s excited (although also scared) about that. He was also considering working up the ranks, and if Severide chose to move to OFI, I could see him taking over the leadership of Squad 3. If he doesn’t make it, I think it guarantees that Severide will stick with Firehouse 51.

Then there’s Mouch, who has finally been made lieutenant and spent much of the season at a different firehouse due to budget cuts within the show’s storyline. There was a huge fight to get him back and to prove that Engine was needed at Firehouse 51. With nothing public about Christian Stolte’s contract, it could be a hint that he isn’t coming back, and Firehouse 51 will face its first major loss since Otis.
