Could the Wait for House of Guinness Season 2 Have a Negative Effect on the Show?

Do I love that House of Guinness Season 2 has finally been confirmed? Yes!

However, there is something that I’m worried about. The filming isn’t set to start until January 2027. That means that we’re not going to get this show until the end of 2027 at the very earliest. That will mark two years between seasons.

This type of wait is becoming more and more common, but it’s not a good thing. It doesn’t mean that people are happy with it, and it is having a negative effect on shows.

Can We Assume House of Guinness Season 2 Will Be the Last?

Unless it’s some major release like Stranger Things that become some sort of global phenomenon, I see a long wait for a series and assume that it will be canceled after that season. And that makes me less likely to be interested in watching it.

There are a lot of issues with the waits. We have Netflix (and other streamers and networks) not promoting their shows well enough. They assume that the hype is there due to social media or due to publications writing about them, but the truth is, the streamers and networks need to put more effort in.

One of the reasons Stranger Things became such a major deal was because of the marketing. We can see the same with the likes of Game of Thrones* and The Rings of Power. The money was put into the marketing to make sure eyeballs were on it.

That’s not happening with other shows, and it means the long wait leads to people forgetting the shows even existed! How many times do you hear people say “I thought this was already canceled?”

So, I honestly think that with a two-year wait, we can pretty much assume that House of Guinness* Season 2 will be the last, especially considering there wasn’t that much hype around the first season in the first place, and Netflix has waited so long and then quietly renewed it!

Netflix and Other Streamers Need to Fix This Problem

I know that filming takes time. I’m not saying that House of Guinness needs to speed up the process.

It’s the streamers that need to fix the problem. I get that not everyone wants a weekly release, but it is the best option for the shows. The Boys, Reacher, and others have performed better on Prime Video than they did with a binge-watch in the long-term. Sure, Fallout Season 1 had more watches at first, but over time, Fallout Season 2 saw a huge tick up.

The shows remain on our minds for longer. There’s a reason STARZ and HBO haven’t moved away from this method of releasing despite having streaming platforms. Even HBO Max tends to do a weekly release.

There’s also less time to fill between seasons. If a show is renewed after a few episodes, it allows the team to get straight to work, having filming up and running not long after the season ends, so that a year is the norm between seasons, following the old-school broadcast method of releasing.

If the streamers really don’t want to move away from the binge-model, then they need to figure out a better way to get the word out there. They need to keep the hype around shows, rather than going silent on them between seasons. It was possible with Stranger Things*, so why not all the other shows?

Or maybe, just maybe, fewer shows are needed! There’s a reason quality is better than quantity!

I worry for House of Guinness because of the wait we’ll have for Season 2. I think it may be the last, and the writers may want to prepare for that.
