After a successful 12-year run on Netflix, Gilmore Girls is leaving. All seven seasons will be pulled from the streamer in the United States on June 30.

On top of that, in November, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will also be pulled. The revival is a Netflix Original, which has a lot of people shocked, but it was only commissioned by Netflix with a 10-year run on the platform.

So, after all that, where can you stream the series? What are the options going to be?

Gilmore Girls Will Likely Go to HBO Max

As of right now, there is no confirmed new home. I always say that with shows like this, it’s best just to have the DVDs or to purchase the Digital copies*. Licensed content is always on the move, and it’s just been a case of luck and money that kept Gilmore Girls on Netflix for so long.

However, the seven-season series is owned by Warner Bros., and that company owns HBO Max. There’s been a huge push to get content on owned streaming services — and then often licensing with a non-exclusivity agreement for a short period of time — to help to boost subscriptions. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what Warner Bros. is going to do with this one.

HBO Max’s July listings haven’t been released yet to confirm if this is going to happen.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Is Also Likely to Go to HBO Max

Likewise, while Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was commissioned by Netflix, the intellectual property still belonged to Warner Bros. With that in mind, we’re likely to see the revival head over there as well.

There is still time to binge-watch A Year in the Life, as that’s not leaving Netflix until November 25, 2026. Make sure you focus on the seven seasons first. If the main series heads to HBO Max, I’m pretty confident that the revival will end up following.

Could this open the door to a sequel to the revival? There was plenty left open for that to happen, so I hope so. However, it means that it will be done on HBO Max and not Netflix.

Honestly, I’d buy Gilmore Girls on DVD* right now just to make sure you can watch it whenever you want. I always said that streaming wouldn’t make DVDs obsolete, and this is why.
