Is There a Way Brice Survived on The Ark Season 3?

The Ark

Is that really it for James Brice on The Ark? Could we find out that he managed to survive in some way, or have we said goodbye to one of the best characters on the entire series?

The Ark Season 3 premiere opened with Sharon and the others heading to Ross-128, despite the warning not to come. While there, they saved one person, the admiral of Ark Four, who had managed to hide out from the spider-like creatures that only come out in the dark. He was the one to send the warning message, knowing that it was a death sentence for anyone who came to save him.

Sharon Lost Two to Save One on The Ark

Of course, Sharon Garnett can’t just allow people to remain on a planet, left for dead. She and a small team went to the planet to see if there were any survivors. It led to finding the admiral, but it also led to the loss of two of her own.

The first was a young field medic, who had been part of one of the other Arks from Homebase 1. The other was one of the show’s best characters, Lieutenant James Brice.

When the solar storm wipes out the mirrors and plunges the planet back into darkness, Sharon and Brice are trapped, and they need to hope that they can make a run for it. However, Brice knows that the only way to save Sharon is to sacrifice himself, and that’s what he does.

It leads to Sharon just being able to watch as Brice is destroyed by the spider-like creatures, leading to an ironic death, as he had been saved from Klampkins due to a spider bite!

There’s No Way for Brice to Survive That

I hate to say it, but we likely won’t see Brice return. We saw that death happen on screen, and there was no way that he could have survived that. The claws of the spiders were stabbing straight into him. The only way to survive would have been to drag him back to the ship.

Sharon is sure that he’s gone, and she shared that with Eva right away. Of course, Eva wants to see all the footage so that she can accept that her boyfriend has died.

This could be the way for her to see that he somehow survived the attack. There’s a glimmer of hope that she spots something and it takes Ark One back to the planet to retrieve him, but The Ark* has made it clear in the past that it’s not afraid to kill off characters. Spencer Lane suffered the same fate during the third season, and now, Sharon will need to deal with the guilt of knowing her choice killed one of her own.

The Ark* airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on Syfy.
