One of the shows I was excited to watch, but I wasn’t sure if it would be renewed, was Destination X on NBC. The summer travel program brought plenty of mystery and trivia, while also adding a social game to watch.
Destination X on NBC debuted in May 2025. Hosted by The Walking Dead alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the series followed a group of contestants who would have to figure out where they were in Europe. They traveled on a bus, which was all blacked out, so they had to rely on clues, their knowledge of geography, and their social groups they formed to make sure X was in the right spot.
Destination X Has Been Renewed for Season 2
In some exciting news, Destination X Season 2 will happen. NBC has officially renewed the show, according to Deadline.
Honestly, this was a series that I thought would be cancelled. I’m really glad it hasn’t been, but I feared for it considering how long it’s been since the first season ended.
It turns out that NBC was happy with the show’s performance. The series averaged 14 million viewers across the platforms within the first 26 days, and it ended up being the No. 1 new show of summer 2025. Over the course of its 10-episode run, it reached 20 million viewers across all platforms, and for an unscripted show, that works.
You Could Be Part of Destination X Season 2
We won’t get a season in 2026, it seems. However, there is some good news that comes with that. NBC is currently casting for the second season of the series, so this could allow you to put your trivia and geography knowledge to the test.
The first season took contestants across various European countries, from France, to Italy, and even Monaco. It’s not clear if the second season will remain on the European continent, or whether there will be a chance to travel other parts of the world.
What is clear is that the idea of the series will remain the same. Not only will the contestants have to keep guessing, but so will the viewers. There are sure to be some new twists in the gameplay along the way, but the show is still in its early stages that it doesn’t need to do too much to it to keep it exciting.
We’ll likely see Destination X Season 2 premiere in 2027. This just feels like it works best as a summer show.
