For six episodes, we’ve watched how the Forsyte family has dealt with scheming and social expectations. It all came to a climactic ending during The Forsytes Season 1 Episode 6, with Jo making his final choice in love and Frances dealing with the blow.

Now we are ready to see what’s next for the family. After all, while Jo has walked out, it doesn’t mean that Soames is taking over the firm. In fact, Ann has a secret nobody expected!

The bad news is we won’t get to see how it all plays out tonight, Sunday, May 3. We have some bad news to start off this post.

The Forsytes Season 1 Has Come to an End

The episode that aired on Sunday, April 26 was the finale of The Forsytes Season 1*. There were only six episodes confirmed in the first season, despite other Sunday night dramas, The Count of Monte Cristo and Call the Midwife getting eight episodes each.

It is disappointing, but that was the way the production was planned from the beginning. It doesn’t mean that the series hasn’t performed well, and it doesn’t mean that it’s the complete end of the road. We just have to wait for the series to return.

The Forsytes Season 2 Is Happening

The great news is that the second season was confirmed long before Season 1 even premiered. In fact, it’s already been filmed, and we even know that The Forsytes Season 3 is happening — and has started production. It’s clear that this has always been a series with support and hope.

We’ll likely see The Forsytes Season 2 in spring 2027. There’s no reason to delay it too much, but opting for a year between the seasons makes sense. This gives the third season time to film to make sure there are no long breaks. Plus, a year between seasons is the norm for PBS. Just look at how Miss Scarlet and Call the Midwife have usually followed a yearly release around the same time of year.

Watch the Teaser

A teaser trailer was released at the end of the first season, giving us a hint at where we’ll find the characters. Jo is spending his time with Louisa and their children, hiding away from the storm that he created at the end of the first season, while Frances and Jo Sr. are teaming up to figure out a way through the mess.

Irene has decided to put her focus into her marriage now that she knows that she can’t easily escape. However, June notes that this is at the expense of her dreams, and she doesn’t like that idea. Will Irene choose to disappear?

Richard Rankin is briefly spotted in the teaser for The Forsytes Season 2. It’s not clear whose storyline he will cement himself into, but with Frances now being somewhat single, there could be an opening for a love affair there.

The Forsytes is available to stream on PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video* and PBS Passport.
