Can you believe that summer is here? It’s time for the broadcast networks to take a break, and that gives us the time to watch plenty more on streaming.
There’s something for everyone throughout the summer months. I’m taking a look at all the major streamers for something that covers all needs, whether you want fantasy, romance, or something in between. Here are my five suggestions for something to watch on TV.
House of the Dragon Season 3
Yes, I’m going to put the third season of the Game of Thrones spinoff on the list. House of the Dragon* Season 3 will pick up shortly after the second season, and it promises the Battle of the Gullet, which we had hoped for in the previous season.
This is when the real Dance of the Dragons begins. If you thought the loss of dragons was hard during the second season, wait until you delve into this one. Each side will face heartbreak as Rhaenyra moves into King’s Landing and finally takes control of the Iron Throne. Now, can she keep it?
House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres on Sunday, June 21.
The Vampire Lestat
Also known as Interview with the Vampire Season 3, The Vampire Lestat will continue with the Anne Rice adaptation. This one follows the novel of the same name, which sees Lestat attempt to shrug off the negativity that came from Louis’ interview.
He creates a band, and we’ll get to see that band in all its glory throughout the third season of the epic TV series. He wants to set the record straight, giving us a chance to see that there are two sides to every story.
The Vampire Lestat will premiere on Sunday, June 7 on AMC and AMC+.
Every Year After
Those who want a romance will want to turn to Prime Video, as Every Year After premieres. This is based on the Carley Fortune novel Every Summer After*, and it asks the question: what if your first love was destined to be your soul mate?
The novel is told over the course of six years and a weekend. It’s a sweeping look back at love and the choices we make — and how they can mark us forever. Prime Video has started moving back into a binge-watch release model, and that’s what this series is getting.
Every Year After drops on Prime Video on June 10.
Cape Fear
If you want a psychological thriller, Apple TV has your back. Cape Fear is a miniseries based on the John D. MacDonald novel The Executioners*. There have been film adaptations in the past, but this is the first time it’s had the TV treatment.
Cape Fear follows Max Cady, an unreformed and vicious convict who is released from prison and decides it’s time to enact his revenge. He goes after Tom and Anna Bowden, who represented him 17 years earlier. He has enough knowledge of the law now to avoid capture.
Apple TV is keeping its weekly release model, with Cape Fear premiering on Friday, June 5.
The Bear Season 5
Finally, we can’t overlook the highly anticipated final season of The Bear. It picks up straight off the back of Carmy quitting the food industry. Sydney, Richie, and Natalie are left in charge, and they’ll need to figure out how to manage a restaurant without any money. Do they sell it?
There is always the dream of chasing the Michelin star, but there’s a storm that threatens that final dash at the dream. How will the final season end? Could we see happiness, or will it end in a disappointing way for all?
The Bear drops all episodes on June 25 on Hulu and Disney+ and will air weekly on FX.
