It’s been a long wait for House of the Dragon Season 3, and that’s not all that surprising. It took almost a full year to film the third season, and then there is months of post-production work to get through. In fact, post-production is still happening on some episodes!

However, the wait is finally over. House of the Dragon* Season 3 premieres tomorrow, June 21, 2026, and we’re ready for it! It starts off with the epic Battle of the Gullet, and that means time is needed to tell the story.

House of the Dragon Season 3’s Premiere Is Longer Than Normal

Most episodes run around 60 minutes long. That’s been the case with Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Now and then, an episode needs to run a little longer, and that’s the case for this premiere.

The House of the Dragon* Season 3 premiere will run for 72 minutes. And based on the images and a lot of the behind-the-scenes details, that runtime is needed.

The episode is set to bring us the epic battle, which is one of the biggest moments in the entire Dance of the Dragons. It changes the power between the Blacks and the Greens, but it also sets up for some heartbreaking moments later on in the story.

This scene helped to break a record, with 23 stunt people involved in one take. And yes, they all get burned alive. After all, there is no battle in House of the Dragon without the actual dragons!

House of the Dragon Season 3 Will Air Weekly

Like with the previous seasons and with Game of Thrones, the series will get a weekly release. Again, it’s not surprising. The episodes air on the channel as well as the streaming platform.

You can watch on the HBO channel live from 9 p.m. ET. The episode will stream concurrently on HBO Max, so don’t worry if you don’t have the channel. You don’t need to wait until the end of the episode to finally get to watch it!

With eight episodes, the finale will air on Sunday, August 9, 2026. This is not a season to miss.

House of the Dragon* is available to stream on HBO Max.
