Finale season across the broadcast networks is almost here. CBS is the first of the networks to kick things off, with a finale airing on Thursday, April 23. You don’t want to miss a beat of your favorite shows.
As well as finales, we also know what the CBS 2026 fall schedule will look like. There is going to be a long wait for one show in particular, as it’s the first to wrap and the last to come back next season. Get all these dates in your diary.
Matlock Kicks Off the CBS 2026 Finale Season
As with last year, Matlock is going to be the first show to head on its summer break. The Matlock Season 2 finale will air on Thursday, April 23. Usually, Elsbeth would move an hour earlier, but there will be hour-long finales of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts.
The downside to this early end is that we have to wait longer for the next season to arrive. Matlock is being held for the midseason in the 2026–2027 schedule, despite it being one of the more popular shows on the network!
Watson is the next show to air its finale, on Sunday, May 3. This is another disappointment, as it’s not just a season finale. This will mark the series finale, and we’re sure to end up with cliffhangers considering the series wasn’t planned to be only two seasons.
Most Shows Run Until the Middle of May
NCIS: Origins will get an earlier finale than the other two shows in the franchise, simply because it has fewer episodes to the season. It will air on Tuesday, May 5. The following week, but NCIS and NCIS: Sydney will air their respective season finales, with Sydney moving forward an hour for one week only to air a two-hour finale.
Out of the three shows, only Sydney is heading on a longer break. It will return in the midseason, and it will take over Origins’ timeslot since the prequel series is going to have a shorter season order.
Most other finales are during the week commencing Monday, May 18. FBI and CIA will kick things off (an hour earlier than normal), and then we’ll get finales of the likes of Ghosts, Sheriff Country, and Tracker.
