FOX Renewal Scorecard: Which Shows Could Be Cancelled or Renewed?

FOX Renewal Scorecard

Every year, we have to say goodbye to shows that we love. The 2025–2026 TV season is going to be no different, and I’m taking a look at the shows that are likely to be cancelled and renewed. It’s all about the FOX renewal scorecard.

I’ve already shared my thoughts on ABC shows, CBS shows, and NBC shows. FOX is the last of the main broadcast networks, considering how much The CW has dropped in recent years. It’s also the home of Animation Domination, which we know is safe for another year. Well, most of the shows are safe.

This is all based on the linear ratings, as they’re the figures that we get access to. There are other factors that go into renewal decisions, including budget and streaming numbers, but the linear ratings remain powerful due to the advertisers paying attention to them.

Like with the other scorecards, I’m using a simple one to share my thoughts. I’ve done this in the past on other sites, and for the most part, I get a lot of decisions right. There are just usually a couple of outliers, that can end up being surprising decisions.

Here’s the scorecard:

  • Officially Renewed
  • A Sure Thing
  • A Safe Bet
  • 50/50 Chance
  • Likely Cancelled
  • Unofficially Cancelled
  • Officially Cancelled

The “Unofficially Cancelled” marker is used when networks have clearly given up on their shows, usually pushing them to streaming only or holding them for a later time of the year. I won’t likely be using that for FOX, and it’s really only NBC that has given me a sense that a show is unofficially cancelled at this point.

I will split the shows into drama and comedy, and I only look at the scripted lineup. Unscripted is a different beast.

FOX Scripted Drama Chances

  • Best Medicine: A safe bet
  • Doc: 50/50 chance
  • Memory of a Killer: A sure thing
  • Murder in a Small Town: 50/50 chance

FOX Scripted Comedy Chances

  • American Dad: Officially renewed
  • Animal Control: A safe bet
  • Bob’s Burgers: Officially renewed
  • Family Guy: Officially renewed
  • Going Dutch: Likely cancelled
  • Krapopolis: Officially renewed
  • Universal Basic Guys: Officially renewed
ANIMAL CONTROL: Joel McHale in the “Roosters and Moles” episode of ANIMAL CONTROL airing Thursday, Feb. 26 (9:01-9:31 PM ET/PT) on FOX. © 2026 Fox Media LLC. CR: Bettina Strauss/FOX.

Animal Control and Going Dutch are the only two comedies on FOX not yet renewed, and I think it’s a safe bet for the Joel McHale series. Animal Control has seen a whopping 100% increase in the demo in the linear ratings and a 55% increase in the total audience. That’s virtually unheard of, so FOX is going to support that.

Going Dutch is the one I’m worried about, as it’s right at the bottom of all the shows — and it’s seen a decrease in viewership. It’s possible that it could be renewed if there are no other comedies planned for the 2026–2027 TV season, but if there is another pilot, we could say goodbye.

Murder in a Small Town is the main drama I’m worried about, because it’s the bottom of the list out of all the dramas in the linear ratings. It’s also a Canadian drama, so the Canadian networks will also get a say into whether this one will be renewed or not.

So, out of the FOX-owned shows, Doc is the one that could end up being on the chopping block, but that’s only because of the demo dropping by 8%. I do get a sense that FOX is looking to renew all its scripted shows, and my 50/50 chance statement is more due to being cautious than anything else.
