Gen V Season 3 Isn’t Happening — But It’s Not the End of the Characters

Gen V

If you worried that the wait for Gen V Season 3 meant something bad, then you were not alone. The longer we went without a renewal, my heart knew that it was going to be bad news. That’s now arrived, with Amazon deciding not to go ahead with a third season.

That’s despite not knowing how The Boys Season 5 will end just yet. We know that some of the characters are involved in the Homelander takedown, and we’re sure not all of them will make it out alive, but there is still hope for some of them!

Amazon Has Canceled Gen V After Two Seasons

Based on the phrasing from Eric Kripke to Variety, it sounds like Amazon has decided not to go ahead with a third season. This is somewhat surprising considering The Boys universe remains popular, but it likely comes down to the cost of production vs. the number of subscribers the series pulls in. Due to all the CGI, this show is not going to be a cheap one to produce, and it also takes up a lot of time to get out there.

The last we saw of the Godolkin students was that they had escaped the horrors, with Marie learning that she may be the only chance the world has to get rid of Homelander. Starlight appeared with A-Train at the end of the second season to recruit the university students into their plan, and it’s not like they could say no considering they had Vought after them.

We had expected them to be a little more involved in The Boys Season 5, but there is still time. There are still four more episodes to be exact!

Gen V Characters Could Return in Other Shows

Kripke made it clear that while Gen V Season 3 isn’t happening, it doesn’t mean the end for the characters. There are other spinoffs that could allow them to return.

However, right now, the only main spinoff from Kripke on the horizon is Vought Rising, which is a prequel series. It’ll be hard to make current-day students fit into the 1950s.

There is a Spanish-language series on its way. The Boys: Mexico is also in development, and this could potentially open the door for Gen V characters. There is also the chance that other spinoffs are in the works, as The Boys universe has become of the biggest for Prime Video over the years. There’s hope, even if it’s not at Godolkin.
