Ghosts Season 5 ended us with the most excruciating cliffhanger possible. Now we have to wait to find out if Pete has totally disappeared or not.

Just as Jay and Kyle were getting to the boundary, Pete (who was just a head at this point) completely disappeared. Who knows what will happen when they cross over the boundary that would allow him to completely return to normal?

With Ghosts* Season 6 not part of the fall lineup, there were likely concerns that we’d have to wait until 2027 to get answers about the beloved character. However, there is great news!

The Ghosts Holiday Specials Will Bring Answers

While we’re waiting until 2027 for the official season of Ghosts Season 6, there will be episodes to keep us going until then. CBS confirmed that we’ll get a Halloween and a Christmas special. Both of these specials will be an hour long, and they will bring some answers.

In fact, the Halloween special is going to be set during that time period. Considering the show is nowhere near that when Ghosts Season 5 comes to an end, it means that there will be a time jump.

Joe Wiseman, co-showrunner and co-creator of the series, shared with TV Insider that fans “will not have to wait.” Just like when we had the cliffhanger at the end of Season 3 with questions about who had been sucked off, the answers will be given as soon as the holiday special starts up.

Of course, the Ghosts Season 4 premiere made us think that Flower had been sucked off. It was later revealed that Flower had been stuck in a well the whole time, and it was one of the basement ghosts to get sucked off. I can’t see the show pulling the same stunt as that again!

Ghosts Season 6 Will Premiere in 2027

The holiday specials will continue the Season 5 storyline. They’re not just random episodes thrown in, and it means that technically, the season will just start two weeks later than normal.

The two specials are being counted as part of the Ghosts Season 6 episode count, which is set to be 22 episodes. This will mean that when the season returns in the new year, we should get limited interruptions. It will also include the milestone 100th episode!

So, while it initially seems disappointing that we’ll need to wait, it’s not that long in reality. The holiday specials are certainly something to look forward to.

Ghosts* is available to stream on Paramount+ or to purchase on Amazon.
