After Wolf just walked away and stood Josh up at the end of the Brilliant Minds Season 1 Finale, we spent the whole of the second season waiting to see them get back together. It seemed it wouldn’t happen when we learned that Josh was back with his ex-boyfriend before Wolf.

Despite hearing that Brilliant Minds* was canceled after the second season, we still held out a little hope for the couple to find their way back to each other. The penultimate episode delivered a shocking proposal, as Beau wanted more commitment from Josh, and we had to wait for the series finale to see how it would all play out.

Josh Turned Beau Down on Brilliant Minds

In a surprising turn of events, Josh said no to Beau’s proposal. He just wasn’t that into the man.

As much as it hurt Beau, he needed to know the truth. And that’s not in a gloating way, as it meant that Josh could go back to Wolf.

Beau was a good man, and I enjoyed seeing who he was as a doctor to his patients. The problem was that Josh’s heart was torn, and Beau deserved the commitment that he wanted. It was just better for Josh to say no, even if there wasn’t Wolf waiting in the wings.

Wolf Showed How Much He Loved Josh

For the longest time, there were questions about whether Wolf even wanted to be with Josh. Was he willing to put his own needs to one side, or would he always fall back on old habits?

That’s where Brilliant Minds’ Season 2 finale proved to everyone just how Wolf shows love. He does it through acts of service, and he did it for Josh when it came to family.

We learned that Josh’s dad has Alzheimer’s Disease, and at one point, Josh’s dad, Duke, gets confused and angry. Duke believes that Josh is his dad, and when Josh corrects that, Duke claims he doesn’t have a son. It’s hurtful, especially when added to the fact that Duke could never accept his son as being gay. There’s a wedge between them, and Duke being in another reality doesn’t help.

As Wolf learns that Josh and Beau broke up, he decides it’s time to show his act of love. He wants to help Duke, who just wants to go home. That’s a cue for baseball, and Wolf arranges some indoor baseball with the whole of Bronx General.

Meanwhile, Carol shares with Josh that Noah has died. Yes, Noah died in a motorcycle accident off-screen, and I’m not sure how to feel about that. Anyway, it’s the push that Josh needs to declare his feelings for Wolf.

The end of Brilliant Minds Season 2 sees the two men kiss and FINALLY get back together! Now, we can just believe that they live happily ever after since there’s no third season to break them up!

Brilliant Minds* is available to stream on Peacock or to purchase on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and more.
