ABC Fall 2026 Schedule Sees Some Major Changes as High Potential and The Bachelor Are Held

ABC

There are some surprising moves on the ABC fall 2026 schedule. Major shows are out, being held for the midseason, while newer shows are in.

High Potential is likely to be the biggest upset for fans, as ABC has decided to hold the quirky crime drama until the midseason. However, there are other major changes to look at, with questions now arising about whether January is the new fall.

High Potential Held, RJ Decker In

Yes, the biggest move on the ABC fall 2026 schedule is that High Potential is no longer going to air in the fall. Despite a great start, the network has decided not to stick to its stable routine. Instead, RJ Decker, which was the last of the shows to be renewed for the season, will get to air on Tuesday nights after Dancing with the Stars.

R.J. DECKER — Disney/John Merrick

This move is likely strategic. RJ Decker has solid potential in the fall. It also likely has a better chance of a full season, as High Potential is often cut down to schedules of the main cast. Opting for an 18-episode season that runs with Will Trent in the midseason is likely going to be better for consistency, and ABC has seen that the midseason consistency is working.

RJ Decker isn’t the only show moving to the fall. Scrubs will also get a fall run, getting pride of place on Wednesday nights. It will lead the night, with Abbott Elementary then airing straight afterward. This pushes Shifting Gears to the midseason, which isn’t too surprising considering the small ratings drop the sophomore season.

One big reality shocker is that The Bachelor and the entire of Bachelor Nation is being held for the midseason. Sure, the main show was pushed back to January a few years back and remained there, but we usually get another Bachelor Nation show in the fall, such as The Golden Bachelor, but that’s not happening this year!
