There was a lot of excitement when Disney+ became the international streaming home for Doctor Who, but things didn’t last too long. After the first two seasons of the New New Who, Disney decided to cut ties, and it led to all former episodes of the series being removed.

So, the big question came where to watch the episodes now. To be honest, with all the changes to streaming platforms, I do believe that DVDs and Digital purchases will remain popular. DVD and Blu-Rays are the only way to guarantee that you’ll be able to watch a movie or show when you want, and my shelves are packed with them!

But for now, there is some good news for Doctor Who fans. There’s going to be a new streaming home for the first 13 seasons of New Who.

AMC+ Will Be the New Doctor Who Streaming Home

AMC Networks has just announced that the streaming platform AMC+ will become the new home for the first 13 seasons of Doctor Who — the seasons that started in 2005 with Christopher Eccelston. If you want to watch the original episodes, then you’ll want to get BritBox, as that’s where the 1963 series and onward is currently streaming.

Yes, only the first 13 seasons of the 2005 revival will be available. The two seasons starring Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor will still be available on Disney+.

This move probably isn’t even that surprising. Not only did AMC become the company to save a lot of shows that have gone off into the wasteland, such as Snowpiercer, but it was once the home for the episodes to air in the first place!

When Will The Doctor Join AMC+?

AMC Networks shares that there is only a month to wait for Doctor Who on the streamer. All 13 seasons will join on June 11, 2026. It looks like this is only available to U.S. subscribers at this time. After all, BBC iPlayer will still have it in the UK, and other international countries will need to make a deal with BBC for a streaming home.

There is currently a limited-time deal for AMC+, where you can get a whole year’s subscription for just $29.99. That runs until May 25, 2026, so now is the time to lock it in ready to watch Doctor Who.

Of course, if you want to watch Doctor Who* whenever you want, I still recommend getting the DVDs!
