There were many hints of what to expect in Vought Rising throughout The Boys* Season 5. Now that the flagship series has come to an end, it’s time to look ahead at the continuation of the universe.
We knew that a prequel series was coming. Now we know that Vought Rising is slated to arrive in 2027, and the first teaser trailer is out. This gives us our first look at Jensen Ackles as the 1950s Soldier Boy, Aya Cash as Clara Vought before she became Stormfront, and the first supes to get V1.
Vought Rising Shows How the Supes Began
Ackles and Cash will reprise their roles, but the teaser makes it clear that there is a change for Cash’s Clara. She has a German accent in the new TV series, which makes sense considering the backstory that we already knew.
Stormfront was Liberty, before that Supe went missing in the 1970s. However, before that, she was Clara Vought, the wife of the company’s founding father. They were Nazis from Germany, and so, it makes sense that just five years after the war, she still has her accent. Over time, she likely assimilated more into the United States to fit in with what the people of the country wanted supes to be.
As for Ackles’ Soldier Boy, very little is know about who he was before he became a superhero. We know from The Boys that he was some rich kid who bought his way into the program to become a hero. That’s what he says he wants to be, but does he realize what he’s really getting himself into?
We get glimpses of Bombsight, Torpedo, and Private Angel, including how they play to the camera and are willing to kill. However, there are glimpses of other characters, and it looks like what Soldier Boy was told about V1 may not have been true. He said that not everyone took to it, but it seems like there are some who become perfectly capable supes. Is this temporary, or is it because they were Black that Clara decided not to take them under her wing?
Take a look at the Vought Rising teaser trailer to get a sense of what to expect from the new series. With the 1950s backdrop, the newness of Compound-V, and likely what we think we know being turn on our heads, there’s a lot to look forward to.
