It was back in 2019 when the Jumanji sequel, The Next Level, came out. You’ll be forgiven for thinking that a third was picked up and then scrapped due to the long wait. However, it turns out that the third movie is still happening.
During CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black took to the stage to announce the third movie in the franchise. Not only do we get the third movie title, but there was also a trailer revealed, and Deadline has all the details.
Jumanji 3 Title Revealed
The third movie is titled Jumanji: Open World. This time, the game world takes a turn that we got to see in the original 1995 movie starring Robin Williams. Rather than the gamers going into the gaming world, the gaming world will infiltrate the real world.
It all starts with Dr. Bravestone turning up with a Spanish accent, and then the avatars of Hart, Black, and Karen Gillan show up. They are in their demo modes, which is sure to be exciting to see how the actors do at the acting!
This is Black’s favorite of the three so far, and it’s sure to be worth the wait. After all, it’s been one hell of a wait!
The trailer hasn’t been officially released to viewers just yet, but I’ll share it as soon as it’s out!
When Will Jumanji: Open World Be Released?
Now for some great news. Not only do we have the title, but we also have a release date. Jumanji: Open World is set to be released on Christmas Day 2026.
This hints that it’s expected to be a big release. After all, that’s a major day for theatrical releases, as people look for something to do and a way to spend time with family. While most may not go on Christmas Day itself, the day after is a popular one.
So, now eyes are on how the storyline will play out, but considering the main cast is all returning and Jake Kasdan returned to direct, I have a lot of hope.
Jumanji: Open World is out in theaters on Christmas Day.
